Living in Portugal is great, in particular, Lisbon is an interesting city where you can relax, either working or just enjoying your retirement.
Lisbon is one of the Portuguese paradises. You can make your living, either working or retiring in Portugal, in this nice city.
Lisbon has a temperate climate. The temperature ranges between 12.8 and 20.8 degrees Celsius and has 2781 hours of sunshine (annual average).
“Ribeira das Naus”, located in the oldest part of Lisbon, in front of Tejo River, is a privileged place of enjoyment where you can contact with the river, walking, running, cycling or just relaxing.
Ribeira das Naus, or simply Ribeira, is a designation that, in the late fifteenth century, the Portuguese started to use to refer to shipbuilding. The term derives, from riverside areas, where the shipyards were deployed.
The area called “Ribeira das Naus” in Lisbon comes with the decision taken in 1498 by King Manuel the 1 st, to build a new Palace, close to the shipyards in Lisbon.
The Palace of Ribeira, as it will be known, would occupy the area where stood the old shipyards, forcing the displacement of the yard to the adjacent area, to the west of the Palace.
This arrangement was particularly important for the development of ship building and for the performance of “the discoveries”. For centuries, Ribeira das Naus, was the most important Portuguese shipyard.
We can walk in the garden, see the Dry Dock where the Discovery Ships were build and repaired, rediscover the old Pier of Caldeirinha and the structures of the Royal Palace Court. The existing beach, before the earthquake, can now be achieved with a staircase to the water.
Enjoy life and take advantage of the climate and the environment.
